How to delete your account
You can delete your Vent account yourself, from inside the app, in under a minute. Deletion is permanent.
In the app
- Open Vent and go to Profile.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Delete account.
- Read what will be removed and confirm.
The steps are the same in the iOS app, the Android app and the web app at app.vent.social.
What is deleted
As soon as you confirm:
- your profile — display name, username, photo, bio, birthday and interests;
- the events and moments you posted, and their photos;
- your chat account on our Matrix server and your message history (messages you have already sent may remain in the other person’s conversation);
- saved events, reminders, follows and blocks;
- your push token and your sign-in session on every device;
- your phone number and email address, which are released and can be used for a new account.
It cannot be undone. There is no grace period and no way to restore a deleted account. If you come back you start from scratch, and your old username may be taken.
By email
If you cannot get into the app — for example, you no longer have the phone — email a.azimoshan@gmail.com from the email address on the account, or include the phone number the account uses, and ask us to delete it. We will confirm the account is yours, delete it, and reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.
What we keep
- Backups. A copy of your data may remain in our backups for up to 30 days after deletion, after which it is overwritten. Backups are not used to restore accounts.
- Server logs. Technical logs containing your IP address are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted.
- Aggregate statistics. Numbers that cannot identify you, such as how many events were created in a month, are kept.
- Records we are required to keep. If a report, a legal request or a dispute concerns your account, we keep the records needed to deal with it for as long as the law requires.
