Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms are the agreement between you and Vent (“Vent”, “we”) for using the Vent apps for iOS and Android, the web app at app.vent.social, and this website. By creating an account or using Vent you accept them. Please read them; they are short. How we handle your data is covered separately in the Privacy Policy.

Who can use Vent

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • During early access you also need an invitation. An invite code is for you: do not sell it or post it publicly.
  • The details you give us when you sign up must be yours and accurate.

Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your phone number or, for older accounts, your email address. Anyone who can read the messages at that number or address can sign in as you, so keep your device locked and never pass a code to anyone. Vent will never ask you for one.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us at a.azimoshan@gmail.com straight away.

One person, one account. Do not create accounts for other people or automate account creation.

What you may not do

Vent is a place to find each other and show up. To keep it that way, you agree not to:

  • harass, threaten, bully or intimidate anyone, or encourage others to;
  • post hateful content — attacks on people because of their ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar;
  • post content that is illegal, or that promotes or organises illegal activity;
  • pretend to be another person or organisation, or claim an affiliation you do not have;
  • send spam, or post events or moments that are misleading, duplicated, or exist only to advertise;
  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download content or member data, or access Vent other than through the apps and web app we provide;
  • interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities, or try to get around moderation or an account suspension;
  • share sexual content involving minors, or intimate images of anyone without their consent, under any circumstances.

Your content

Everything you post — events, moments, photos, your profile, messages — remains yours. We do not take ownership of it.

So that Vent can work, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, to resize a photo) and display your content inside the service, and to make it visible to the members you share it with. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain in backups for up to 30 days.

You must have the right to post what you post. If a photo is not yours, make sure you have permission.

We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law.

Events and organisers

Anyone can publish an event. If you do, you are the organiser: you are responsible for the event being real, for the details being accurate, for the venue, for the safety of the people who attend, and for any permissions or licences the event needs.

Vent does not sell tickets, process payments or take a commission. If an organiser charges for an event, that is an arrangement between you and the organiser, made outside Vent, and Vent is not a party to it.

Vent lists events; it does not run them. We are not responsible for an event being cancelled, moved, full or different from its description, or for anything that happens there.

Moderation and suspension

You can report any user, event, moment or message from inside the app, and block anyone. The Vent team reviews reports.

If an account breaks these terms we may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close the account. For serious or repeated violations we do this without warning. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you what happened, and you can reply to a.azimoshan@gmail.com.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account, or by following the steps in How to delete your account. Deletion is permanent.

We may close accounts that have broken these terms, as described above. We may also discontinue Vent, or part of it, and will give reasonable notice when we can.

The service

Vent is in early access. Features will change, some will be removed, and things will occasionally break. We provide Vent as it is, without a promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular event, member or content will be available.

Liability

In plain language: Vent is a tool for finding events and people. We are not responsible for what members post, for what organisers do, for what happens at an event, or for losses that come from relying on content on Vent.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you for anything connected with Vent is limited to the amount you have paid us to use it — which, during early access, is nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Vent grows. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by message at least 14 days before it takes effect; continuing to use Vent after that date means you accept the new terms. The date at the top shows the latest revision.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Vent’s operator is established, and disputes are heard by the courts there — unless the consumer-protection law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim at home.
